Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions our patients ask most often before booking. Can't see your question here? Get in touch and we'll be happy to help.
What should I expect at my first visit to Alaraak Dental?
We set aside extra time for new patients. Your first visit starts with a short medical and dental history, followed by a comprehensive examination including digital X-rays where indicated. We then go through the findings with you in plain language and agree on a treatment plan together. Plan for around 45 to 60 minutes.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
For most adults, every six months is appropriate. Patients with active gum disease, frequent cavities, diabetes, or who smoke may benefit from a three- to four-month interval. We will recommend a recall schedule based on your individual risk profile rather than a fixed rule.
Do you offer sedation for patients with dental anxiety?
Yes. We offer behavioural techniques, oral anxiolytics, and inhalation sedation (nitrous oxide) where indicated. After a brief medical screening we will recommend the safest option for you. Severe phobia or complex medical histories may be referred for IV sedation in a hospital setting.
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes. You can book a new-patient consultation by phone, WhatsApp, or through the booking link on our home page. If you have recent X-rays or treatment notes from a previous dentist, sending them in advance helps us avoid duplicate imaging and saves time at your first visit.
What payment methods and insurance plans do you accept?
We accept cash, debit and credit cards, and bank transfer. We work with most major dental insurance providers. Please contact us with your insurance details before the appointment so we can confirm coverage and provide a written estimate where applicable.
What should I do in a dental emergency?
If you have severe pain, facial swelling, trauma to a tooth, or uncontrolled bleeding, contact the clinic as soon as possible. We keep emergency slots available during clinic hours. For a knocked-out adult tooth, time matters: keep the tooth moist (in milk or saliva) and try to reach us within 30 to 60 minutes.
How do I switch to your practice from another dentist?
Ask your previous dentist to send any recent X-rays and treatment notes — most clinics will share these on request. Bring or forward them ahead of your first appointment. We will combine that information with our own examination and build a fresh, transparent treatment plan with you.
Will my dentist actually listen to my concerns?
Every appointment begins with a short conversation about what brought you in and any worries or goals you have. Treatment is never started before you have understood and agreed to the plan, and a written estimate is provided for any non-routine work.
How long will my appointment take?
A routine examination with scale and polish typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. New-patient consultations run 45 to 60 minutes. Restorative or surgical procedures vary; we always give you a specific time estimate when booking so you can plan your day.
What infection-control and sterilisation protocols do you follow?
All instruments are heat-sterilised in autoclaves and pouched after every patient. Clinical surfaces are disinfected between appointments and we follow national dental association infection-control guidelines. We are happy to walk you through our protocols on request.
Do you treat children, and from what age?
Yes. We see children from around the age of three for familiarisation visits and from earlier if there is a specific concern. Paediatric appointments are scheduled with extra time and a child-friendly approach so that a first dental visit is a positive experience.
How do I book or change an appointment?
You can book by phone, WhatsApp, or through the contact form on our home page. We ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations so the slot can be offered to another patient. Reminder messages are sent the day before each appointment.
